What Is A Medium?
Theresa Caputo, Tyler Henry, John Holland, John Edward.
If you're a student of metaphysics or mediumship, you will likely recognize one or several of these names. They are the well known mediums who have embraced their gift, bringing it to the masses in the form of books, events, and even television shows. I love all of these mediums and have read all of their books. I've even attended a few of Holland's galleries and I have to say, if you ever have the opportunity to watch him work in person- do it. I promise he will not disappoint. Personally, I love his to-the-point style. The details he's able to bring forward often leave his attendees in tears- but all for good reason! Like myself, John is able to connect the living with their loved ones who have crossed over into the world of Spirit. I've watched as gallery goers leave rejuvenated and they often can be overheard talking about how it was as if they could feel their loved one right beside them! As a medium myself, it's that exact moment that brings me pure joy. Watching the reunion uplift and heal is one of the most inspiring events one can ever observe.
John's style and ability to connect comes quickly and once he starts going, it's best just to validate with a 'yes' or a 'no' so the stream of information can continue to flow. This is not how I am able to operate, however. Because I am not as experienced in the technical aspects of mediumship, the information does not always present itself so expeditiously.
I prefer to meet my clients in their home or a coffee shop. I want the meeting place to be a relaxed atmosphere that allows my client to be completely comfortable physically, affording me an open connection to their loved ones on the other side. Given that we live in such a rural community here in the Northeast, it's often difficult to find a coffee shop with just the right energy, so traveling to the client's home makes it easiest.
Before the meeting takes place, I meditate and connect to Spirit. I ask those who are strong enough to step forward and introduce themselves. What comes next can be a mental image of a person, a voice I'm not familiar with, and sometimes even the energy of the space around me can change with the addition of someone new. I ask that these souls step forward in loving, white light and that they bring forth whatever information the client needs to hear. Sometimes they step forward easily- other times, not so much. This process usually begins days prior to the actual event because the energy needed on both ends is so immense that it can be physically draining. (But I'm learning to steady that depletion with each reading I conduct.) Some come through and leave me feeling excited and hyper, while others are so intense that I feel the physical emotions of their departure or the sorrow of the loved one still living days after I've left them.
Whenever I conduct a reading, I am always surrounded by my crystals, hence, The Crystal Intuitive. Amethyst around my neck, hamsas around my wrists, and clear, rose quartz and obsidian can usually be found on my person when I'm connecting with the world of Spirit. (More on crystals in tomorrow's post.) I like to ward myself from specific energies and during my mediation, I clearly state that only light beings are allowed into the space. I do not allow myself or my client to be influenced by negative energies, although there are times that the information that comes forward isn't positive. I do my best to cypher the details in a way that provides the necessary information, while maintaining a light space. No bad vibes, here!
When I feel the energies being to withdraw, I know it's time to close the reading. I will ask my client, or clients, if they have any other questions that I can answer- even if they aren't particularly related to the Spirit(s) who came into the reading. Clients have asked me about career moves, personal/life direction, as well as... What the future holds. I truly believe that every psychic gets this question from time to time and while I can't predict the future, I sure can come close. Just ask my own mom!
In short, being a medium can be so much fun, yet spiritually taxing at the same time. It's all about balance- about maintaining a steady stream of consciousness with Spirit, and leaving yourself open to the possibility of information coming from forces unknown. It's about connecting with loved ones still on this earth, about bringing them together with those who have gone, and about learning from the past. I love, LOVE what I do, and I hope that you all will take the journey with me to wherever it may lead. I promise you one thing- it'll be a fun ride!
Stay tuned tomorrow, for the very first 'Crystal of the Week', where I will introduce you to the Spiritual, physical, and emotional properties of gemstones and crystals from my own collection! If you know me, you know that I am never without at least two on any given day!
And because rest is vital for any psychic, I am signing off for the night.
Until next time, loves...
